The Gateless Gate - Definition and Overview |

The Gateless Gate (無門關, Zh. Wumenguan, Jp. Mumonkan) is a collection of 48 Chan (Zen) koans and commentaries compiled in the early 13th century by Chinese monk Wumen.
Along with the Blue Cliff Record, The Gateless Gate is a central work much used in Rinzai School practice. 5 of the koans in the work are attributed to Zhaozhou.
