The Idiot (album) - Definition and Overview |
The Idiot is a 1977 album by British rock musician Iggy Pop.
David Bowie wrote most of the lyrics and the music for the album. His band's musicians played some of the instruments, but Bowie and Pop played most of the guitars and keyboards. The lyrics are ironic and hurtful and the music is dark and haunting, as it was a difficult time for the duo, being poor and cold in their flat in Berlin, with songs aiming at past memories and hopes for better times.
The album cover photo is similar to Bowie's 1977 album Heroes. The song China Girl from this album was readopted by Bowie for his 1983 album Let's Dance and became a mega hit.
