The period of greatest national exposure was from 1981-1983, though it had already received a Peabody Award by 1978 and another in 1981. Notable in a period which saw US public radio stations also offer Earplay, the BBC Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings radio series, and a number of series imported from CBC Radio and elsewhere.
