The Principle of Evil Made Flesh (1994) is Cradle of Filth's first album. It is generally thought of to have the rawest sound of any other album, though slightly more refined than their demos. Dani Filth's vocals have also improved since them, instead of death-metal like grunts and an occasional shriek it is his trademark style.
The album is filled with barrages of guitars, drums and keyboards. This album also has many more melodic instrumental tracks then most others, although it would seem they are returning to this with Damnation and a Day. Their style during this album is much closer to death metal than anything else.
Tracks from this album have been rerecorded on "Vempire" (1996) and "Bitter Suites to Succubi." (2001)
