Bad Religion released this album in December 2001 in Europe and Japan and January 22, 2002, in the US. This album featured the return of Brett Gurewitz. The first hit was "Sorrow", which made the charts of November of 2001. The song is based on the story told in the Book of Job and uses it as an allegory for all human suffering. The first lines are in direct reference to the book:
(Compare Job 3:1-3.) It goes on to question the existence of suffering: "Will you guide me now, for I can't see a reason for the suffering and this long misery. What if every living soul could be upright and strong, well, then I do imagine there will be sorrow (..) no more." Track listing
