The Set-Up - Definition and Overview

The Set-Up is the name of several films:

• the best-known is the 1949 film of that name, which was directed by Robert Wise and starred Robert Ryan as an "over-the-hill" boxer;
• the 1978 short of that name was a student film by Kathryn Bigelow;
• the 1995 film of that name was directed by Strathford Hamilton and starred Billy Zane and Mia Sara;

There is also an unreleased film of that name, a remake of the 1949 film. It is reportedly adapted and directed by Sidney Lumet and is said to star Benjamin Bratt, Halle Berry, and James Gandolfini. It is scheduled for release in 2004.
