The Tea Party is a Canadian blues-based rock band with progressive and middle-eastern influences. The band calls its brew of styles "maroc'n'roll." The power trio formed in 1990 in Windsor, Ontario, later relocating to Montreal, then spreading out to various cities accross Canada.
Starting out as an indie rock/blues band, The Tea Party, having released their seventh album in 2004, have become a largely controversial name in Canadian rock. They are either hated or loved, as they admit themselves.
With a few #1 singles on Canadian radio and television, a dedicated following, seven admirable and distinctly characteristic albums and a symphony tour behind their back, The Tea Party is continuously proving to be one of the most inventive and creative bands in Canadian rock'n'roll.
In 2004, with the breakup of American rock band Creed, it was announced that former Creed lead vocalist Scott Stapp would collaborate with the band on his forthcoming solo album. The Tea Party have stated that these rumours are false.
