Plot

Chapter One

In Chapter One, Mr. Poe gives a brochure to the Baudelaire orphans, because he wants them to choose a city they want to live in, whereas the whole city would serve as guardian. The children choose the city of V.F.D.

Chapter Two

In Chapter Two, the children go to V.F.D. by bus. Unfortunately, the stop for V.F.D. is several miles before V.F.D, so the children have to do a long way to walk, until they reach the city, which is covered in crows. They enter the town hall and become acquainted with the Council of Elders of V.F.D, who commands that you Baudelaires will do all the chores for the entire village. Beginning tomorrow, you three children will be responsible for anything that anyone asks you to do. The children then are sent to live with Hector, the handyman who will feed them, clothe them, and make sure they do all the chores, and he is responsible for teaching them all of the rules of V.F.D, so they wom't do any more terryble things...

Chapter Three

In Chapter Three, the children are taught what V.F.D. stands for.
