The Weirdstone of Brisingamen is a fantasy story for children (but also enjoyed by adults) by the author Alan Garner. It is set in and around Macclesfield and Alderley Edge, Cheshire, and relates the tale of two children, Colin and Susan, holidaying there. Its sequel is The Moon of Gomrath
Brisingamen features in Norse mythology as an amber necklace belonging to the goddess Freya who is irresistible when she wears it. It is stolen by Loki and retrieved by Heimdall.
