Thionville (German: Diedenhofen), is a city in the département of Moselle in the Lorraine région, France. The city is located near the Moselle River.

Demographics

The population has boomed in the Industrial Revolution, but economic slowdown of the 1970s affected Thionville and ares. The population began to decrease. The population rose again in the 19902 and in suburban Hettange Grande in the east while the western part of the new agglomeration are decreasing aroung Hayange. The aggomeration is still losing population but the decrease has been slowed down.

  • Thionville Ouest (West): 21,844 (53.4% of the total population)
