Thomas P. Salmon (born August 19, 1932, served as Governor of Vermont from 1973 to 1977. In 1976, he was an unsuccessful candidate for United States Senate. In 1991, he was appointed interim president of the University of Vermont and served as the university's permanent president from 1993 to 1998.
