Thrillington is a 1977 album by Paul McCartney, alias Percy "Thrills" Thrillington. The album is an instrumental cover version of McCartney's 1971 album, Ram. Arranger Richard Hewson was asked to arrange the orchestration in May, 1971, before Ram had yet been released. Paul and wife Linda imagined the character of wealthy socialite Percy Thrillington, and he was signed to the MPL Productions label. It was supposed to be Percy who orchestrated the entire album, although, of course, he had never existed.
However, before it was time for the album to be released, the McCartneys formed Wings, and as such Paul felt that it was not the right time for the album's release, and it was shelved. By 1976, however, the album was back in McCartney's thoughts, and by 1977, it had been released, without a single mention of McCartney's name on it. As such, the recording was largely overlooked, and the general lack of advertising (besides some newspaper ads about Percy's upcoming functions) meant that the album didn't receive much coverage.
