Thunder (comics) - Definition and Overview

Thunder is the name of at least two superheros in the DC Universe. One is Anita Pierce, superhumanly-strong medical student and the daughter of former superhero Black Lightning. Like him, she a member of the Outsiders.

The other Thunder is Cecebeck, a far-future recipient of the Shazam power (bestowed upon her not by Shazam himself, but by William Batson, who had by that point become an antiquated greybeard much like his mentor). As the result of an accident with time-travel, Cecebeck found herself trapped in the 30th century (to her, the distant past), in which context she joined the Legion of Super-Heroes. Her name is a reference to Shazam-creator C.C. Beck.

Anita Pierce has the ability to increase her body's mass while preserving volume, which effectively increases her density. In this state she is near-immovable, and can create massive shockwaves just by stomping the ground. She is not completely invulnerabe, as was recently shown during a fight with the reformed Fearsome Five. The matter transmuter Shimmer converted the air in her lungs to water, which flash-fried her respiratory system and almost drowned her from the inside out.
