Tindersticks is the name of an alternative rock band that comprises Stuart Staples (lead vocals, guitar), Dickon Hinchliffe (violin, guitar, vocals), Neil Fraser (guitar), David Boulter (keyboards, percussion), Alasdair Macaulay (drums, percussion), and Mark Colwill (bass guitar).

The band formed officially in late 1991 out of a band called The Asphalt Ribbons and started releasing demo-tapes in 1992, before they were signed by Tippy Toe Records for the first single "patchwork".
