Titan A.E. is a 2000 animated sci-fi space adventure movie from Twentieth Century Fox. It is 94 minutes long and rated PG for action violence, mild sensuality and brief language. Its working title was Planet Ice. The movie opens on the future Earth under attack by the Drej, electric aliens with a hive mind ruled by a "queen". They blow up the Earth just as a few shuttles full of humans manage to escape. The escapees include Cale Tucker who has been given a ring by his father, Sam Tucker, and the alien Tek. Also, the legendary spacecraft Titan escapes. Flash forward 15 years. Cale Tucker works on a salvage station. Without a home planet, humans are constantly bullied and looked down on. A spacecraft captain and its pilots, Korso and Akima, two humans, seek out Cale and explain that he must help them find the Titan, which holds a mechanism to save humanity. However the Drej want it just as much. Cale finds out that the ring his father gave him contains a genetically encoded map to the Titan. Thus begins a race across the universe. But soon, Cale and Akima find out that Korso is planning to hand over the Titan to the Drej. Cale and Akima are stranded upon a drifter station shortly after they learn of Korso's true intentions regarding the Titan. They manage, however, to repair one of the wrecked spacecraft comprising the drifter station, christening it the Phoenix, and make their way to the ice field that the Titan has been hidden in. Within the Titan, Cale and Akima confront Korso, who eventually experiences a change of heart. The Titan is attacked by the Drej, who are seeking to destroy the spacecraft. The protagonists realize, however, that the energy contained within the Drej ships may be able to power up the Titan's systems, and they work towards bringing the vessel online. Korso sacrifices himself in order to bridge a jammed circuit breaker, after which the Drej vessel's energies are channeled into the vessel. The Drej mothership is destroyed as the Titan causes the ice within the ice field to coalesce and form a new planet. The movie ends with Akima and Cale standing upon their newly-created world.
