The title role is the role (or position) of the character after whom a literary work (e.g.: play, film, book (when read aloud), computer or video game (when it has voice-overs))is named when that work is performed. A part, or character, performed by an actor in a drama; hence, a part of function taken or assumed by any one; as, he has now taken the role of philanthropist.
