To the Lighthouse (1927) is a novel by Virginia Woolf.
The freely, multiply discursive tale centers on the Ramsay family and their visits to the Isle of Skye in Scotland between 1910 and 1920, focalizing the story through the eyes of Lily Briscoe, an aspiring painter visiting the Ramsays.
A key Modernist novel, To the Lighthouse is divided into three major parts, the second part most innovative as it describes the wearing of the family household rather than of the family itself.
