Tochigi, Tochigi - Definition and Overview

Tochigi (栃木市 Tochigi-shi) is a city located in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.

Despite its confusing name, it is not the capital of Tochigi prefecture where the capital is Utsunomiya.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 82,939 and the density of 679.49 persons per km². The total area is 122.06 km².

The city was founded on April 1, 1937.
