Tolworth is a mostly residential suburb of London, in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. It is comprised mainly of low-density 1930s semi-detached houses.
Tolworth is the home of the former pirate radio station, Radio Jackie [1] (http://www.radiojackie.com/), now based in Tolworth Broadway. It also has its own community arts centre: The CornerHOUSE. [2] (http://www.thecornerhouse.org/)
The area is dominated by the Tolworth Tower, an office block designed by Richard Seifert and opened in 1964. The tower is 80.8 m high with 22 floors. The Marks and Spencer supermarket chain has a shop on the ground floor and the lower parts have recently opened as a Travelodge hotel. The building has been given the honour of appearing in the Taschen book of Boring Postcards. It is situated by the Tolworth roundabout on the busy A3 London-to-Portsmouth road. This roundabout is known as the Toby Jug Roundabout after the pub which stood on the south east corner for many years
