Too Darn Hot - Definition and Overview

"Too Darn Hot" is one of the best known songs from Cole Porter's 1948 musical Kiss Me, Kate.

Like much of the Porter songbook it has been recorded by many singers. One of the best known is the 1990 version by Erasure on the AIDS benefit album Red Hot and Blue.

The song gained new currency in 2004 because of two films that came out that year. The first was the Porter biopic De-Lovely, and the second was the movie Kinsey, which used the tune because Porter mentioned the Kinsey report on American sexual attitudes in the song's bridge:
