Torry Holt - Definition and Overview

Torry Holt (born June 5, 1976) is an American football player.

Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, son of Odell Shoffner and Ojetta Holt-Shoffneran was raised in Gibsonville, North Carolina as a middle child with an older sister, Tosha, and younger brother, Terrence.

Attended Eastern Guilford High School earning All-State honors, and excelled not only as a wide receiver, but also as a defensive back and kick returner.

Attended North Carolina State University from 1995-1999, played wide receiver for the football team and in 1998 was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Was the sixth overall draft pick in the 1999 NFL draft and the first selection made by the St. Louis Rams. Rookie season posted 53 receptions, 788 total yards and 6 touchdowns on the way to a Super Bowl championship.
