Total Commander is an orthodox file manager for Windows. It can be used as a replacement for Windows Explorer, the built in Windows file manager. Total Commander belongs to a class of file managers with two windows side by side, also called the "Commander"-style, after the very first program in its class: Norton Commander. Two panel file managers are also known as OFM or Orthodox File Managers. Their advantage over classic one window file managers is the ability to use keyboard for file management. In essence this is similar to playing piano. One gets so familiar with basic key positions that most of the tasks can be managed blind-folded.
Total Commander is the new name for Windows Commander. The name change was necessary because Windows is a trademark of Microsoft.
This application was written in Borland Delphi.
