Trafficking in human beings (or human trafficking) involves the movement of people (mostly women and children) against their will by means of force for the purpose of sexual or labor exploitation. Examples include abduction for sexual and domestic service (including boys), abduction for debt release, the exchange of women for settlement of disputes, forced prostitution, and sexual exploitation of children. Trafficking is different from people smuggling because it involves the exploitation of people for forced labour and prostitution. People smuggling involves people who are willing to pay (using cash or other favors) in order to gain illegal entry into a state or country of which they are neither citizens nor permanent residents.
