Transmitter Gartow is a facility for FM- and TV-broadcasting and for directional radio services. It is also called transmitter Hoehbeck. The installation has two guyed steel framework radio masts with heights of 327 and 344 metres. Both masts are used for FM and TV broadcasting. The 344 metre high radio mast, known as "Gartow 2", was built in 1977/78 to allow, in combination with the directional radio mast Berlin-Frohnau, an interference-free radio link between West Germany and former West Berlin without using infrastructure of the former DDR.
