Tristan Bernard (September 7, 1866 - December 7, 1947) was a French playwright, novelist, journalist and lawyer.
Born Paul Bernard into a Jewish family in Besançon, Doubs, Franche-Comté, France.
During World War II, he was held at Drancy deportation camp.
He died in 1947 and was buried in Cimetière de Passy, Paris.
IOn 1955, his son Jean-Jacques Bernard, publised a memoir of his father titled "Mon père Tristan Bernard".
In Paris, the Théâtre Tristan Bernard, at 64, rue du Rocher is named in his honor.
