The Overhill Cherokee village is located on the original Tennessee River at the mouth of the Tellico River that was home to the Sequoyah. This portion of river is now called the Little Tennessee River and inundated by the Tellico Reservoir impounded by the Tennessee Valley Authority Tellico Dam.
