Twin Lakes - Definition

Twin Lakes is a complex of two large lakes in Lake Clark National Park in south-central Alaska near the town of Port Alsworth. It contains an upper lake and a smaller lower lake joined by a short connecting stream. The upper lake is approximately 9.7 km (6 miles) long, and the lower about 6.5 km (4 miles). It is quite remote and unpopulated, except in the late summer as it is a popular hunting spot.

The lake complex is known as the retirement home of Richard Proenneke, who spent most of the last 30 years of his life living there in a log cabin he built by hand.
