William Tyrone Guthrie (2 July 1900 - 15 May 1971) was a British theatrical director.

He was born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Guthrie was educated at Oxford University and Knighted in 1961.

He was the first artistic director of the Stratford Festival of Canada in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

Guthrie founded the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He died in Newbliss, County Monaghan, Ireland in his 71st year.
