The UK general election of 1906 was from 12th January – 8th February 1906.
The Liberals, led by Henry Campbell-Bannerman, gained an overall majority in parliament. The Conservatives under Arthur Balfour lost more than half their seats, while the newly-formed Labour Party were far more successful than the Labour Representation Committee had been in the 1900 general election. The Irish Nationalists achieved their seats on a low number of votes as 74 of their members were elected in uncontested seats.
