US Boy Scout Councils - Definition and Overview

Councils are the main administrative districts used by the Boy Scouts of America. These further subdivide into districts (many of which are former, smaller councils) and finally into local troops. Councils are headed by a Council Executive, who leads a staff of Professional Scouters. It may operate more than one office if it covers a large enough area.

For more information, see the List of BSA local councils and districts.
