Ucluelet Ucluelet

Ucluelet - Definition and Overview

Cities of Vancouver Island

Ucluelet is a village (population about 1,700) on the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Ucluelet means 'safe harbour' in the indigenous Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka) language.

It is located at the northern edge of Barkley Sound between two sections of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve: the Broken Group Islands and Long Beach.

Ucluelet is making the transition from a resource-based economy to a tourism-based economy like its neighbor Tofino.
