Ultracentrifugation - Definition

Differential centrifugation is a procedure in which the homogenate is subjected to repeated centrifugations each time increasing the centrifugal force.

Differential centrifugation separates the homogenate into:

  1. Nuclei
  2. Mitochondria
  3. Lysosomes
  4. Microsomes
  5. Soluble fraction

A homogenization solution is used to acquire the desired separation of homogenate.
