Union Station (Portland) - Definition and Overview

Union Station is a train station on the west shore of the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon.

Construction began in 1890. It was built by Northern Pacific Railway at a cost of $300,000. It was opened on Feburary 14, 1896.

The signature piece of the structure is the 150 ft. tall clock tower. A "Go By Train" neon sign was added later on.
