United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit - Definition and Overview

The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit is a federal court with appellate jurisdiction over the following United States district courts:

  • Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Alabama
  • Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida
  • Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia

These districts were originally part of the Fifth Circuit, but were split off to form the Eleventh in 1980. The court is based at the Elbert P. Tuttle U.S. Court of Appeals Building in Atlanta, Georgia.
