Urd - Definition and Overview

In Norse Mythology Urd is one of the three Norns (old crones). Her name means fate, and is the etymology of the word weird. She was also called the Disa of Death.

A variation on the mythological Urd is a major character in the anime/manga series Oh My Goddess! created by Kosuke Fujishima. System administrator of Yggdrasil, the computer which mantains reality, she abandons her job and travels to Earth so she can try to get Belldandy and Keiichi more intimate with each other.


In software engineering, URD is an acronym for User Requirements Document.
