Uxbridge Vine Street was the first of Uxbridge's three stations to open, and was the terminus of the GWR broad gauge single track branch line from West Drayton. The branch was re-gauged to standard gauge in October 1871. Double tracks were installed the following year. An intermediate stop at Cowley was added in October 1904. The branch was used to provide a connection at West Drayton to the GWR main line for the branch line from West Drayton to Staines West; this latter opened in November 1885. History 8 September 1856 Opened as Uxbridge Station: changed its name with the opening of the other lines. 8 September 1962 Closed to passengers. 13 July 1964 Goods traffic to Uxbridge Vine Street withdrawn. |
