The VLF transmitter Skelton is a VLF transmitter near Skelton run by Merlin Communications Ltd. in order to transmit coded orders to submarines. It uses as aerial a 365 metre high guyed steel framwork mast, which is insulated against ground. The VLF transmitter Skelton went in service in 2001 and is the predonator of GBR at VLF transmitter Rugby, which was shutdown on April 1st, 2003.
