The municipality Vennesla is situated in Vest-Agder county, Norway, about 17 km north of Kristiansand, being the third largest municipality of the county. The municipality consists, since 1964, of the former municipalities of Vennesla, Øvrebø and Hægeland. Vennesla has been inhabited for about 5000 years, and the municipality has 12,338 inhabitants as of January 1, 2004. The area of the municipality is 386 square kilometers.
