All students take General Paper, Project Work and Mother Tongue at 'AO' level. Students who have obtained at least a D7 in Higher Chinese at the 'O' levels have the choice of not taking Mother Tongue at 'AO' level.
Students who wish to take Biology at 'A' level should preferably have studied Biology at 'O' level.
- The Science 1 (S1) faculty takes Mathematics C and three sciences, namely Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Variation includes substituting Physics with Economics or Computing.
- The S2 faculty takes Mathematics C, Further Mathematics, Physics and Economics.
- The S3 faculty takes Mathematics C, Further Mathematics, Physics and either Chemistry or Computing.
- The S4 faculty takes Mathematics C, Physics, Chemistry and Economics. Variation includes substituting Economics with Art or Computing.

Co-Curricular Activities
List of CCA (http://www.vjc.moe.edu.sg/campus_life/cca/index.htm)
Co-curricular Activities (CCA) in VJC are dynamic, challenging and fun! VJC offers a wide range of Co-Curricular Activities to nurture student's talents, social skills and leadership abilities. Every year, new and meaningful CCAs are proposed by students themselves. For example, 2004 saw the founding of the Fencing Club.
CCAs with low membership are merged with other related CCA so as to add to the variety of activities each CCA does. For example, in 2004, IT Council merged with iComp, and Bridge and Chess Club merged with Defence Science Club to become the Strategic Games Club.
Established CCAs such as the VJC Choir participate in competitions regularly abroad. Just recently, the choir represented Singapore in the Choir Olympics held in Bremen and participated in 3 categories, such as Musica Sacra, Contemporary Music and in the Open mix. The choir emerged as the category champion in the Open mix category, and 1st runner-up in the Musica Sacra and Contemporary Music categories and at the same time clinching 3 golds. The choir was also invited by Media Corp to sing at the Singapore Idol Finals.
Many other performing groups also excel regularly in the bi-annual Singapore Youth Festival (SYF), clinging gold and silver medals.
School Spirit
VJC is well known for its school spirit. Victorians are generally known to be enthusiastic in whatever they are doing and have great school and team spirit. VJC is also well known for her mass dances which includes Whiney-whiney, Neutron, Tribal Dance, La Bamba, I want you and the Friendship dance. During the first orientation every year, VJC students will go down to Suntec City Fountain of Wealth for their mass dances. The enthusiasm in the students is immeasurable.
Houses
During competitive intra-school events, the school population participates as houses. These houses and their respective colour codes are:
- Draco (Red)
- Phoenix (Orange)
- Ursa (Yellow)
- Lynx (Green)
- Aquila (Blue)
- Pegasus (Purple)
House points are earned through participation. Winning houses get additional points.
The house system was introduced in 2004 in order to prepare for the change in curriculum in 2006, where there will be no more faculties. Before the introduction, the school population competed as faculties. Currently, the house system distributes students from different faculties evenly, eliminating the size advantage that the S1 faculty had from offering the most popular subject combination.
Draco finished first in the year 2004, with Pegasus following very closely behind trailing by just one point.
