Vinson and Elkins is a law firm with offices in Houston, Dallas and Austin, Texas, Beijing, London, Tokyo, New York City, Washington, D.C., Moscow, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The firm was started in Houston, Texas in 1917 by James A. Elkins and William A. Vinson. Vinson and Elkins specializes in "oil and gas matters", but has a hand in many other industries. Among others, they represented the failed energy company Enron prior to its 2001 collapse.

Alberto R. Gonzales, U.S. President George W. Bush's White House Counsel and nominee for United States Attorney General is a former partner of Vinson and Elkins; the firm contributed $6,500 to his campaign for the Texas Supreme Court in 2000.
