Voronezh State University is one of the main universities in Central Russia.
The university was founded in 1918, when staff and about 800 students from the University of Tartu fled the German occupation of Estonia.
The University has 18 departments, a Business school, 5 research departments, one of the biggest scientific libraries in Russia, unique reserve that preserves the fauna of the preglacial age, printing office, publishing house, 4 schools, 5 regional branch offices etc. It has an enrollment of 21,000 students. More than 1000 of them are from Europe, Africa, America and Asia. Among the University's alumni there are Nobel prize winners and other worthy of respect scientists. The alumni work in over than 80 countries all over the world.
The University is the biggest educational, scientific, cultural and research center of the Black_Earth_Region.
The Computer Science Faculty (http://www.cs.vsu.ru) of Voronezh State University is one of the first faculties in Russia where IT professionals are prepared.
