WLTE ("Lite FM", 102.9 FM) is a radio station in Minneapolis-St. Paul that carries a "lite" adult contemporary format and has done so for many years. The station is one of the most popular area stations, mostly because the non-intrusive music selections provide good background in business environments (the outlet acknowledges this with the slogan, "Your Station at Work"). It began as the FM broadcast of local powerhouse WCCO 830 AM, but never carried 'CCO's signal very far. Until 1973, it was only operated for the minimum amount of time required to keep the license, before upgrading to full-power full-time and launching a somewhat eclectic adult contemporary format lasting throughout the 1970's. In the early 1980's, WCCO-FM changed to a very short-lived Top 40 format, which was a failure. Known as "FM103, the WCCO FM", and using the slogan "one hundred and three percent music", it lasted for less than a year before the format was scrapped and changed to its current "lite" format in late 1983, and changing its call letters to WLTE.
WLTE is owned by Infinity Broadcasting Corporation, which also owns WCCO radio today. The ultimate owner is media giant Viacom.
