WETP-TV was founded in 1967 as WSJK-TV. Its programming originates in Knoxville, Tennessee, and its transmitter is located near Sneedville, Tennessee. WTEP serves the upper east Tennessee area as well as portions of southwest Virginia and eastern Kentucky.
