The WWE Cruiserweight Championship is a title for competitors weighing under 220 lb (100 kg). It is currently exclusive to the SmackDown! brand, and the current holder is Funaki.
Before World Championship Wrestling was purchased by the WWE, the Cruiserweight Championship was used there. The WWE used the WWE Light Heavyweight Championship starting in 1998. In 2001, during the Invasion angle, X-Pac unified both titles by holding both at one time. At this point, the WWE got rid of the Light Heavyweight Title and began using the Cruiserweight Title instead.
