The World Wrestling Entertainment Tag-Team Championship is the tag-team championship currently being contested for on the World Wrestling Entertainment's SmackDown! brand, exclusively.
History
This is the new tag-team championship created by Stephanie McMahon after the original WWE Tag-Team Championship became exclusive to the RAW brand.
Facts and trivia
Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit defeated Rey Mysterio & Edge on the October 20th 2002 at the WWE No Mercy pay-per-view in a Tournament Final Match to become the first team to win the WWE Tag-Team Championship.
Three teams have held the titles twice, Team Angle/The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin), Los Guerreros (Eddie Guerrero and Chavo Guerrero, Jr.) and The Basham Brothers (Doug Basham and Danny Basham).
Two men have held the titles on three occasions, Eddie Guerrero (twice in Los Guerreros and once with Tajiri and Haas (twice with Benjamin and once with Rico.
The Dudley Boyz are the only team to have held the titles as well as any other tag-team title, having held the World, WCW and ECW tag-team title as well. Many others have also held those titles, but not with the partners with the same partner throughout.
Current champions
The current tag-team championship holders are The Basham Brothers (Doug Basham and Danny Basham) in their second reign together. The Basham Brothers defeated Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero and Booker T, and Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns in a Fatal Four Way tag-team match on WWE SmackDown! (January 11, 2005; aired January 13, 2005).
