Wadi Halfa is a town in Northern State, Sudan, on the shores of Lake Nuba (the Sudanese section of Lake Nasser). It is an important archaeological site. Industries include a Chinese-built fish processing plant.
The Sudan railway across the Nubian Desert from Wadi Halfa to Abu Hamad was begun in 1897; it extends, via Atbara, to El Obeid and beyond into southern and western Sudan.
