Wakō (Japanese: 和光市; -shi) is a city located in Saitama, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 73,670 and the density of 6,673.01 persons per km². The total area is 11.04 km².

History

The city was established as Yamato Town in 1943, and renamed as Wako on its promotion to a city, October 31, 1970.
