War Time was the local time adopted by the United States from February 9, 1942 to September 30, 1945. It was one hour ahead of standard time.

War Time was mandated in order to save resources during World War II. The concept was the same as today's Daylight saving time; one hour more sunlight in the evening would lower energy consumption.
