The Waterloo in Liverpool is a 862 metres long rail tunnel, it opened in 1849. One end is at Edge Hill station the other end opens into a short cutting which connects to the Victoria Tunnel, which leads to the Mersey. The tunnel closed on 19 Nov 1972.
