Waters of Mormon - Definition and Overview

In the Book of Mormon, the waters of Mormon are a body of water. Soon after the second Nephite evacuation of Lehi-Nephi, while traveling to Zarahemla these Nephites find the waters. While they are there, many are baptized by submersion into the water. Thereafter, the waters of Mormon are widely regarded as a holy place.

Latter-day Saints generally believe that the later prophet Mormon (and thus the Book of Mormon itself) is named after the waters of Mormon.
